Starting Today, July 1, petrol pumps across Delhi will no longer provide fuel to End-of-Life (EoL) vehicles.
This move follows orders from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to reduce vehicle-based pollution in the city.

EoL vehicles are diesel ones older than 10 years and petrol or CNG vehicles older than 15 years. These vehicles will now be denied fuel at all fuel stations across the capital, as per Hindustan Times.
Strict Monitoring at Fuel Stations
To enforce this ban, the Delhi Transport Department, Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi have all joined forces.
Around 350 petrol pumps have been identified where traffic police officers will be posted. Each station will have one officer to check vehicles and stop any refuelling of banned vehicles.
Additionally, two police personnel will be stationed at every pump to maintain order. If someone tries to break the rule, traffic officers can either issue a challan or even seize the vehicle on the spot.
What Petrol Pumps Must Do
Fuel stations are now required to:
- Display signs clearly stating: “No fuel for vehicles over 15 years (petrol/CNG) and 10 years (diesel) from 01.07.2025."
- Keep a manual or digital record of all fuel denials.
- Train their staff on how to identify and refuse EoL vehicles.
Additionally, automated cameras with real-time number plate recognition will scan vehicle registration details before allowing refuelling. These systems will be managed by the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC).

Fuel stations not following the rules will face penalties under Section 192 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Weekly reports will be submitted to CAQM and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The Supreme Court had already banned these old vehicles in Delhi back in 2018. A 2014 order by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) also prohibits parking vehicles older than 15 years in public areas.
